A Morning of Giving at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
October 07th, 2020

On a bright October morning, the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital remained quiet as usual. Patients from across the country arrived, their faces marked by fatigue and concern over medical expenses. Amidst this solemn scene, the Tri Nguyen Cares volunteer group appeared, carrying boxes of hot meals, bringing both nourishment and hope.
Meals with Heart
That morning, over 20 volunteers gathered early to prepare 1,000 free meals for patients and their families. Each portion, braised fish, boiled greens, and hot soup, was carefully arranged, offering not just sustenance but also comfort and encouragement.
When receiving her meal, Nguyen Thi Minh, a 65-year-old patient from Binh Phuoc, became emotional: "I've been in the hospital for nearly a month, and most days, I have to cut back on meals to afford medicine. Thanks to you, I can eat without worry. This kindness means so much to me!"
Beyond providing food, volunteers took time to talk and listen to patients’ stories, believing that a kind word and a smile can be just as healing as medicine.

A Journey of Compassion
In just over two hours, 1,000 meals were distributed. Though physically exhausted, the volunteers felt fulfilled, knowing they had brought warmth to those in need. As they left, one thing remained clear, volunteering is more than just giving, it’s about spreading love and hope.

For Tri Nguyen Cares, each meal is more than food; it’s a message: "You are not alone. There are always people who care." And so, the journey of giving continues, because there are still many who need a helping hand.
